Welcome!
Hi, my name is Matthew Green and the 2021-22 school year will be my second as the school psychologist here at Washington Elementary. I previously lived in Whitewater while attending UW-W, and completed both my undergraduate and graduate education there. This included my Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2018), Master of Science in Education in School Psychology (2019), and in May 2021, my Education Specialist in School Psychology. In addition to that, I am also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist.
What do School Psychologists do?
School psychologists work with students, teachers, families, and community mental health providers to deliver a variety of psychological services to students, including (but not limited to):
Providing comprehensive evaluations to determine students' eligibility for special education services,
Consultation with teachers and parents to develop and monitor interventions to improve students' academic and/or behavioral functioning in the school,
Individual and small group counseling and similar social-emotional skill-building,
Working to improve school-wide Multi-Leveled Systems of Support (MLSS) to benefit all students academically and behaviorally.

Why Whitewater?
I am very excited to be a member of the WUSD and Washington Elementary Staff, as during my first two years of graduate school at UW-W I was a peer mentor to a student here at Washington. From that experience, I learned about the school's culture and climate and knew then that it would be a great place to be, making my decision easy! I am looking forward to collaborating with teachers and families to support students' academic and social-emotional needs. In addition to Washington, I am also the school psychologist at Whitewater High School. I am also one of the Head Track & Field coaches at Whitewater High School, coaching long and triple jump.
